US Diaper Sizes by Brand and Weight

US diaper sizes are numbered 0 (Newborn) through 7, with weight ranges that overlap significantly between consecutive sizes. Brands also overlap: a baby at 22 lbs could fit Size 3, 4, or even 5 depending on the brand and fit. The table below shows official brand weight ranges as published by the manufacturers.

EU / International Diaper Size Equivalents

European (and most international) brands — including Pampers European editions, Huggies EU, and local brands like Libero and Lillydoo — use named sizes with kilogram weight ranges. These are the standard EU sizing categories.

How to Tell If the Fit Is Right

Weight ranges are guidelines, not rules. A diaper fits correctly when:

  • The waistband sits at or just below the belly button
  • Two fingers fit comfortably under the waistband
  • The leg cuffs are snug but not cutting into the skin
  • The tabs fasten in the middle of the landing zone (not at the edge)
  • There are no gap spaces around the legs

If you notice red marks or frequent blowouts even at a correct weight, try a different brand — leg cut and rise vary noticeably between Pampers, Huggies, and store brands.
