Tips for scaling recipes
- Enter quantities as fractions (1/4), mixed numbers (2 1/4), or decimals (2.5)
- For items like eggs or garlic cloves, leave the unit blank — the scaler handles whole-number counts
- When halving baked goods, reduce leavening agents (baking soda, baking powder) by slightly less than half
- Pan size and baking time may need adjustment when scaling baked goods — scaled quantities don't automatically account for this
- Use the Copy button to paste the scaled recipe into a notes app or document
About the Recipe Scaler
This free recipe scaler instantly adjusts ingredient quantities for any number of servings. Enter your original recipe, set the target serving count, and every ingredient scales automatically — displaying results as clean fractions like ¼ cup or 2½ tbsp rather than awkward decimals.
The tool handles all common cooking units: teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, fluid ounces, pints, quarts, gallons, milliliters, liters, ounces, pounds, grams, and kilograms. For items like eggs or garlic cloves that have no unit, simply leave the unit field blank.
